Preview inactive-contact cleanup rules

Preview inactive-contact cleanup rules

Audience Cleanup is currently a Preview / Dry-run beta in Noticestry One. You can configure rules and review potential candidates. Cleanup execution, scheduled inactivation, and automatic contact-status changes are not active in this release.

What a dry run does

A dry run shows matching counts, exclusion reasons, sample contacts, and estimated reductions. It does not unsubscribe, delete, inactivate, or change send eligibility. Saving a policy or weekly configuration also stores configuration only. Estimated savings are projections, not a billing adjustment.

Configure a policy

  1. Check the workspace and open Audience → Cleanup.
  2. Choose New Cleanup Policy or Create Cleanup Policy.
  3. In Rules, name the policy and set the inactivity window and minimum emails received. The initial defaults are 180 days and at least three sends; adjust them to your audience.
  4. Choose No adjusted opens, No human clicks, or both. When both are selected, a contact must meet both rules.
  5. Review Advanced safeguards, including minimum contact age and list-membership age. These help avoid labeling new subscribers as disengaged before they have had a fair opportunity to respond.
  6. Continue to Audience, choose the intended lists, and review any included or excluded tags.
  7. Use the Review step and dry-run controls to inspect candidates before saving the policy.

Cleanup policies currently run as previews. Check the safeguards and summary before reviewing the matched contacts.

Read the result

Compare candidates with exclusions for recently engaged contacts, recent members, and contacts without enough sending opportunities. Review sample records and the last-send, open, or click information provided. Machine-generated opens and human-classified clicks are treated using the application's adjusted engagement rules.

A missing event is not proof that someone has never read your email. Use the preview as evidence to review with your team, especially for seasonal or infrequent mailings.

Inactive versus unsubscribed

The interface describes a future Inactive state that would preserve consent and history while excluding ordinary sends. This preview does not apply that state. Unsubscribed is a separate consent-related status; do not change it just to match a cleanup estimate.

Weekly settings

A stored weekly schedule does not run cleanup in this beta. Check the release notice on the page before relying on execution. Contact Noticestry support if you need an actual cleanup action reviewed for your workspace.
