Import and organize contacts

Use Contacts → Import CSV to bring a subscriber file into the selected Noticestry One workspace. Prepare and review the file before importing; imports can add contacts, update matching records, and attach list or tag information.

Prepare the CSV

Use a header row and one contact per row. Email is required. Optional columns include first name, last name, phone, lists, tags, status, created date, and existing workspace custom fields. Export spreadsheet files as CSV first.

Use Download CSV Template in the import dialog as a starting point. Keep only relevant columns and import contacts you have permission to email. A status of Subscribed in a file does not establish marketing permission.

Import the file

  1. Check the workspace selector and open Contacts.
  2. Choose Import CSV.
  3. Optionally choose a list for all imported contacts. Read the dialog's list-subscription notice.
  4. Choose the CSV file and select Next.
  5. Review every column's mapping. Map one column to Email Address; use Do Not Import This Field for unwanted columns.
  6. For Lists and Tags columns, check the detected separator. Comma, pipe, and semicolon are supported; correct the setting when the preview is wrong.
  7. Review the summary and start the import using the displayed upload action. Wait for the result and inspect warnings or rejected records before retrying.

Use the CSV template if needed, upload the file, and choose the destination list before importing.

Duplicates and status

Email identifies matching contacts within a workspace. Repeated email rows do not mean you have created separate subscribers for every row. Review the contact after importing if duplicate rows contain conflicting information.

Contact lifecycle status and individual list subscription are different. Existing unsubscribed, bounced, or complained contacts should not be treated as newly eligible just because their address appears in an import. Check status and consent before any send.

Organize and verify

Search for sample addresses from the file and check names, status, lists, tags, and custom-field values. Filter Contacts by list, tag, or status; use Save as Segment to reuse supported filters. The page may load contacts in batches—use Load more before assuming the visible rows represent the entire database.

If the import fails

Check the email mapping, valid CSV formatting, field types, plan limits, and the displayed error. Correct the source file and review the completed result before importing again. Do not repeatedly upload a file while its first import is still processing.
