Create and manage an automation

Automations in Noticestry One run workflows for contacts based on configured triggers and steps. Plan the workflow before activating it: activation and manual enrollment can cause real email delivery or contact changes.

Prepare the workflow

Decide who should enter, what starts the workflow, which messages they receive, and when it ends. Confirm your sender domain, default mailing address, contact eligibility, and billing availability. Use a small internal list and addresses you control for initial validation.

Create and build

  1. Check the workspace and open Automations.
  2. Choose New Automation, enter a clear name, and create the workflow.
  3. Open the builder and configure its trigger. Supported trigger choices include tag-added, list subscription, email engagement, and date-based entry; complete the fields required by the selected choice.
  4. Use Add an action between steps to insert a Send email, Wait, If / Else, or list/tag action. A Wait pauses for a duration; the Wait until options continue when the selected event or date/time occurs. Configure each step and select the correct email, list, or tag.
  5. For If / Else, review both Yes and No paths. Each path should end with an End step.
  6. Save the workflow and resolve the validation messages before activating it.
Create automation dialog with name and Create button

Start with Create Automation, give the workflow a name, then build and test its steps before activating it.

Prepare automation emails

The Emails tab manages automation email content. Review the subject, sender, Reply-to, design, personalization, compliance footer, and chosen email in each Send Email step. A campaign template and an automation email are related design tools but are not the same saved message.

Activate or pause

Draft is for preparation. Activate enables the workflow; Pause stops active processing according to the workflow's current state. Pausing cannot recall emails already submitted. Check the status after making the change.

For an active workflow, pause and review before changing triggers or steps, then save and deliberately reactivate when ready. Do not assume existing enrollments will restart from the beginning after an edit.

Validate and monitor

Confirm the trigger with an internal contact, then check enrollment and step execution. Where available, Enroll / Test opens the manual enrollment dialog. Enroll & Run is a live action that can send emails or change contact data; it is not a harmless preview. Use it only with a deliberately selected contact and reviewed content.

Use workflow activity and Reports → Automations to review enrollments, progress, failures, and email engagement. If nothing runs, check active status, trigger rules, sender/address validation, contact status, and billing restrictions before trying repeated enrollments.
